More 6mm Confederates and some extra stuff from this weekend!

Hi everyone!

Well it has been a busy weekend. I had 4 days off and I was able to get some work done on the 6mm ACW armies for Altar of Freedom.  I finished 4 more brigades of Confederate infantry and I was able to get in two Federal Artillery stands.  The Union Artillery are from Adler and the infantry are from Baccus.

I also made a small dice bag out of some fabric I had at the house from other projects. This bad is the first I have made like this and I think it came out good.

The dice are very special.

They are bone dice that I bought at the National History Museum in Copenhagen. I purchased a total of 20 dice. They are very nice and they are heavy compared to modern dice. I plan to use these during my 6mm Viking games for Sword and Spear.

Well I hope you all had a productive and fun weekend.

See you next time.

DFFCON 2016

Hi everyone!

The National Museum of History after it opened to the public

Well this has been a great long weekend for me.
On Friday Soren and I drove to Copenhagen for the 2016 DFFCON wargamers convention.  It was help this year in an amazing room in the National History Museum.  There were a lot of visitors, probably over 150 people came to see what we were doing. There were a lot of game set up and all had fun.

The gaming room! Really nice!!!

On Saturday,Soren and I ran two games of Form Lind of Battle and the players fought the Battle of Koge Bay in 1677.  I created the Order of battle based on the miniatures we had and the historic ships that took part in the battle.  I will do a separate AAR of the two battles once I get some more time to look over the data from the battles.  Both games ended as a Danish victory but both battles were good and there was a lot of fun at our table.

Our little game!

A game of Ronin!

On Sunday we ran a what if scenario for 1918 with our WWI ships we have.  The USA was escorting a troop transport and was intercepted by a German squadron out for a fight.  It was a good game with exploding ships and lots of excitement. Again I will do a AAR once I get some time.

DFFCON 2016 Preperations

HI all,

Next weekend I will be in Copenhagen for my first European Wargaming convention with Soren over at Black Powder Games. Yes it is a small one but it is a good start for me. I have been to Historicon in the USA when I lived in Virginia and I have been to smaller events in Florida and other states.

Here is the info for DFFCON 16 if anyone is interested in coming out for a game.

So to prepare I needed to paint up one more ship for the WW1 Naval Scenario we will run on Sunday. We needed a troop transport for the US Battleships to protect. I was only able to find one at the GHQ website that is from there WW2 collection of ships. But I think it will work really well for this game.

So the miniature is a GHQ Queen Mary and I painted it up to reassemble the H.M.T. Olympic with her 1918 pattern 19AX dazzle Camouflage pattern paint job.

I hope you all like it. The miniature is large and I do not have a base long enough for her but I think that will work out OK for the scenario.

What do you think of the miniature and the paint job?

Thanks and I hope to meet some new wargamers in Copenhagen next weekend.

The Vikings are here!!!

The Viking raiders are known to strike at any location along the coast and along rivers.

Here are my first Vikings. I painted up a stand of spear men for battles using the Sword and Spear Rules.

The miniatures are 6mm Baccus figures. I enjoyed painting them up and I really like how the shields turned out.

So once you have Vikings you need to have ships for the Vikings.

I painted up one of the 4 Heroic and Ros 6mm Viking Long ships. This one is the common Snekkja. I also have one large Skeid to paint to represent the Earl or the King's ship.

Again these miniatures were very good and I am happy with how they turned out.  I will be painting up more Vikings as time allows.

Thanks for checking out my new addition to my miniature collection.
